Oh my word, Robert Jackson Bennett has done it again! With this new endeavour, Foundryside, he graciously allowed us a glimpse of the genius behind the curtain inside his highly unconventional brain. This novel has unbelievably intricate World development, an imaginatively complex magic system and beautifully written characters. Foundryside is a novel that is perpetually combining elements you'd have thought wouldn't be compatible, and yet Robert Jackson Bennet pulls the feat off every time. I was lucky enough to be given an advance reader copy of the book and found it immensely well conceived and executed. Foundryside is the first book of a new trilogy by author Robert Jackson Bennett, whose previous works include The Divine Cities trilogy. Reading Bennett’s stories, you get the overall feeling that the human condition and how that condition reflects on other citizens are at the forefront of his mind in his stories.
